Nick Denton Makes (a) Fortune

Fortune Magazine discovered Gawker Media’s Nick Denton in the current issue. It says he is getting serious about converting buzz to cash, and Fortune points out that he has just launched a bevy of new sites for the “online-GQ demographic”.

It’s mostly superficial stuff, but the piece does contain some good bits. F’rinstance, Nick apparently is seeing 24% month-over-month aggregate traffic growth. Assuming that is true, then Gawker’s traffic is doubling roughly every 3 years. While that is speedy, it is actually somewhat lower than I expected – could the piece have meant that Gawker is seeing double-digit growth in consecutive months? Nick?
