Lane: Oracle Should Stop Selling Apps

Ray Lane of Kleiner Perkins — and ex- of Oracle — says Oracle Corp. would be worth more if it stopped dabbling in non-database businesses:

“If Oracle were a database business only, it would be much more profitable than Microsoft and the stock would be at $25 instead of $10.”

    More to the point Oracle could actually try innovating in databases. How about machine learning tools? Advanced mining tools? High end is the only place to go for Oracle, MySQL will gut the low and midrange.
