President Bush Does a President Benson

Pardon me for a little politics today, but an excerpt from a recent Whitehouse press conference got me laughing:

Q: Mr. President, could you tell us, did you see the presidential — the President’s Daily Brief from August of ’01 as a warning —

A: Did I see it? Of course I saw it; I asked for it.

That verbal whiff transported me back to the magnificently loopy lines from Lloyd Bridges in the film, Hotshots: Part Deux. Consider, for example, this scene with a reporter querying Bridges (as President Benson):

Q: President Benson, where’s your first lady?

A: I don’t know. I’ve had lots of women. Lost my flower at the age of 15. I can’t keep track.
