Back, and Martha’s Late-Day Guilt

Back from my recent trip, and found the changing text at Martha Stewart’s website interesting. Here is what the first sentence was today shortly after the jury came in with its “guilty” verdict:

I am obviously distressed by the jury’s verdict but I continue to take comfort in knowing that I have done nothing wrong and that I have the enduring support of my family and friends.[Emphasis added]

Here is the same sentence as it is now:

I am obviously distressed by the jury’s verdict but I continue to take comfort in knowing that I have the confidence and enduring support of my family and friends.

Apparently by late day Martha felt less innocent but more confident than she did at noon hour.
